Thailand

Thailand is a country located in Southeast Asia, bordered by Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, and Malaysia. With a population of over 69 million people, it is the 20th most populous country in the world. Thailand is known for its rich culture, beautiful beaches, and bustling cities. However, despite its status as a middle-income country, poverty and inequality remain significant issues.

Key Points:

Overview

We want all of Thailand’s children, mothers, and families to be able to lead healthy and productive lives, and we want the country’s most marginalized people to have opportunities to lift themselves out of poverty. To work toward these goals, we partner with the government, the private sector, and civil society organizations.

Challenge Facing Thailand

Poverty is a significant problem in Thailand, with over 6 million people living below the poverty line. Children in poverty are at risk of malnutrition, poor health, and limited access to education. Thailand is a popular destination for human trafficking and exploitation, particularly in the sex industry. The government and various organizations are working to combat poverty and improve the lives of children in Thailand. Despite progress in recent years, inequality remains a challenge in Thailand, with significant disparities in income and access to healthcare and education. Natural disasters, such as floods and droughts, can exacerbate poverty and displacement in Thailand, particularly in rural areas.

Overview Of The Situation

Over 6 million living below the poverty line

One of the major problems in Thailand is poverty, which disproportionately affects children. In 2020, the poverty rate in Thailand was around 9.8%, with over 6 million people living below the poverty line. Children in poverty are more likely to experience malnutrition, poor health, and limited access to education. In addition, many children in Thailand are also vulnerable to trafficking and exploitation, particularly in the sex industry.
